The Gainesville T'ai Chi Center of Gainesville, Florida, teaches the Yang family short form developed by Professor Cheng Man-Ch'ing. We are affiliated with The T'ai Chi Foundation. We offer comprehensive series of classes for beginners and more advanced students. The full form of T'ai Chi Chuan, which is popularly known in the West as T'ai Chi, can be learned in the Beginning Form courses (30 one-hour classes), divided into thirds that we refer to as B1, B2, and B3. Our principal teacher, Paul Campbell, has been teaching T'ai Chi for over 40 years. He is a guiding teacher in the The School of T'ai Chi, which has over 30 branches and 200 teachers worldwide.
Classes will break for summer vacation. There will be no classes in July, August or most of September. Classes will resume the week of September 23, 2019.
New Beginning classes will start at the end of September. Meeting days and times will be posted on the website by the end of June.
Practice rounds will continue during the summer (except national holidays) on Mondays and Fridays at 10 AM and Wednesdays at 6 PM.
No practice rounds Labor Day, 9/2/19.
NOTE TO THOSE INTERESTED IN STARTING CLASSES AT OUR CENTER:
The beginning sequence teaches the Yang style short form step-by-step in one hour classes that meet once per week over 30 weeks in three 10-week blocks. Cost is $120 for a 10-week block. Tai chi is gentle on the body, and most everyone is physically capable of practicing it. Tai chi is a path to fuller relaxation and balance in the world. No equipment is needed besides flat soled shoes and loose clothing. New classes are typically offered in September and January and April. Please email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone ((352) 371-3718) the Center, and let us know of your interest. We post announcements of new classes below.
